On Thursday Canon announced the latest in its long line of successful PowerShot G series of compacts with the new Canon PowerShot G16. The G16 has a few impressive updates and will no doubt be welcomed by Canon enthusiasts. We attended the official UK launch of the camera and you can read our thoughts in the Canon PowerShot G16 first look.
Those looking for a more pocketable Canon compact were also afforded another option this week thanks to the new Canon Powershot S120.
Sony also joined in with the announcements, launching its new Sony Alpha 3000. Although the camera might look like a DSLR, the Alpha 3000 is in fact a Compact System Camera compatible with the manufacturer's E-mount lenses.
