There's been some movement over the past week regarding product news. For instance, Nikon has unveiled a new 18-140mm VR lens and confirmed its price UK price. Meanwhile, Panasonic has announced that the company's 16-million-pixel Lumix GX7 CSC will be targeted at the 'high end' market.

There's also been some interesting, and heartening, news for film fans. Italian company Ferrania revealed plans to rekindle production of film, and will launch a ‘re-engineered' version of Scotch Chrome 100 colour slide film in response to requests from photographers. Others will follow but only if demand is there.

And here's some good news concerning lenses. Independent lens maker Sigma is to launch a "modification service to allow the existing mount of certain Sigma lenses to be changed to work with another camera.

To end on another, hopeful note, it seems the groups campaigning to save the archive of William Henry Fox Talbot for the nation may be close to achieving their aim. I hope they do.

 That's it for this week.
