The announcement came as a complete shock and prompted dismayed reactions across British photography from industry to enthusiasts. The reasons behind the organisers' decision aren't clear and neither is what it says about the state of the photo industry in the UK. Let's hope someone steps in to organise a successor to what was always a popular and enjoyable event. There's some good news for photographers, though, especially those pining for a top-quality camera but who cannot afford one or justify the outlay – high-street retailer Calumet is launching a high-end kit rental website. The company says this is because more and more people are choosing to hire rather than buy, which is no surprise in these straightened times. Elsewhere, enthusiasts of 'old world' photography should be pleased that Ilford Photo is to launch a new pinhole camera called the Obscura. Finally, just to let you know that for today only we're offering 50% off a print subscription to AP, so visit our subscription page, and sign up today to avoid missing out.
