Wednesday 09 October 2013

Hello. Aside from the launch of the Pentax K-3 and the full-frame Nikon D610, there's been shocking news for Adobe customers this week, as it has been revealed that 2.9m accounts have been hacked.

In general industry news, SLRs prices have taken a tumble, falling 22% in a year.

When you're buying a camera, the service you receive is as important as the price you pay. That's where the Good Service Awards comes in, by recognising and rewarding those retailers who go that extra mile. Please vote for your favourite photography retailer in our Good Service Awards to have your say.

Finally, the street photographers among you should keep your cameras primed as photo-sharing website Flickr has announced its In the Street: Europe in Detail competition. Winners will be announced in November.

Reader Gallery Online Photo Of The Week

The title of this week's chosen Photo of the Week may not have the ring of 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' or 'Young Woman with a Water Pitcher' but the influence of Johannes Vermeer is clear in 'The Old Cobbler' by Draig. The composition and lighting as well as the restrained use of HDR all add to the feel of an 'Old Master'. Well done Draig
