Tuesday 22 October 2013

Well, there was I last week commenting on how little product news there was and now look what's happened - seven days later and there's loads.

Where to begin? Well, Fujifilm has made more than 60 changes to its X-E1 CSC to produce the X-E2, which the company hopes will hold its own against Olympus and Panasonic rivals.

Nikon, in the meantime, has ended much online speculation about a new model by announcing the D5300 - a 24.2-million-pixel 'entry-level' DSLR.

Sony has arrived at the party too, unveiling a brace of full-frame E-mount CSCs the Alpha 7 and 7R. The company promises it won't be abandoning A-mount cameras, though. We've already taken a 'first look' at the new cameras which you can read here.

In other news the winner of the Landscape Photographer of the Year, Tony Bennett, says he needed a 'stiff whisky' to overcome the shock of winning the coveted title. Well done, Tony.

Finally, we have a challenge for you – the AP Christmas Cover Competition. Yes, it's that of year when thoughts start turning to the big blow out. This year, we're looking for a reader image good enough to grace the cover of the Christmas Special. Apart from that honour, the winner will also recieve a great prize. You can read more details by clicking this link.

See you next time.

'Not being a doggy person I'm not sure what breed of dog this is, but I don't need to. It's a marvellous pet portrait of Bailey and I like kotoman's tip regarding a slice of ham helping to keep Bailey respectable. Who's a clever boy!'
