With a lack of major product releases the main industry news concerns the legal acion Nikon has launched against Sakar International. This US company produces the Polaroid iM1836 - an interchangeable-lens camera - and Nikon is claiming patent infringement in an attempt to stop Sakar selling the iM1836. In a statement Nikon said it was not able to reach an amicable settlement.

Elsewhere, it seems the Julia Margaret Cameron archive that was the subject of concerted efforts to keep in Britain will now be going abroad. The final, extended deadline for raising enough money to buy it has passed with funds still needing £121,250. I consider that a real loss to the nation.

While we're on the subject of raising large sums of money, a 'tasteful' 1938 gold-plated Leica 1 Luxus is predicted to fetch up to £570,000 when it goes to auction in Hong Kong next month.

Finally, the presenter has been chosen for a new photography-related reality show has been chosen. He's described as an 'old school photographer' and who can find out who he is by clicking here.

That's it for now. Enjoy your week.

Reader Gallery Online Photo Of The Week

'Heart Shattering Beauty' is the title given by George AKA Fuzzypiggy to this week's chosen image for 'Reader Gallery Online Photo of the Week'. And who am I to argue? I particularly like the strong diagonal formed by the shoreline and trees plus the near Rule of Thirds composition. Well captured George.
