Tuesday 26 November 2013

It's all rather Halcyonic in terms of product at the moment. There's little activity, though I'm sure this will change quite soon.

In industry news, though, Olympus has confirmed the company's intention to share more camera parts with Sony

So, what other goings-on have there been? Well, a limited-edition Leica designed by Apple has sold for a cool £1.1m, while a vintage Luxus Leica IIs dating from the 1930s fetched far less than its pre-auction estimate which had forecast a possible world record. That said, it was valued at just £5,000 12 years ago.

Speaking of auctions, the sale of a huge cache of vintage cameras and kit takes place in Devon next month. Online bids are accepted.

That's it for this week

Reader Gallery Online Photo Of The Week

AP's art editor chooses his favourite reader image from the past week's uploads to our Reader Gallery.

This week, I was torn between two images. One is a photograph that relies only on light, shade, observation and composition. It's a pure single image called Study of light by dioneanu, so what's not to like? The answer is, nothing - I like it very much.

The other is an image comprising more than 70 shots brought together in Photoshop. It reminds me of David Hockney's photo collages, the paintings of LS Lowry and the prints of Robert Rauschenberg. Finally, though, I chose 'Albert Dock' by Stephen McNally. An interesting technique, Stephen, that gives the scene a sense of time and movement.
