Hello, here's this week's little package of news. What do we have for you?

Well, in product news Nikon has made a concerted effort to corner the troubled market for compact cameras by launching no less than nine models. The cheapest being £69.

Elsewhere, the company gave Formula 1 stars a Coolpix S9500 camera each to take behind-the-scens shots at Grand Prix events. The resulting images are to be auctioned for Great Ormond Street Hospital's Children's Charity on 7 February.

The Terry O'Neill award has been announced with the overall prize going to Palestinian freelance photographer Laura Boushnak, for her essay on the problems Yemeni girls face trying to get a university education in that ultra- conservative muslim country.

On a final note, we have an exciting competition. Visit Estonia, Estonia Nature Tours has joined with us to offer one lucky photographer the chance to win a five-day trip to the Baltic country this March to photograph white-tailed eagles alongside top wildlife photographer and AP contributor Luke Massey.

See you next week.
