With spring (hopefully) just around the corner, Canon has been a busy bee, announcing a host of new cameras. Particularly exciting is the EOS 1200D, an entry level DSLR, suited to first time DSLR users with a wallet friendly price tag. Sporting intuitive controls, easy handling and a brand new app alongside it, it aims to be a novice's best friend by creating great imagery instantly. We take a first look at the 1200D here. Canon has also announced the Powershot D30, a 12.1MP waterproof adventure camera. At the same time as the D30 was announced, Ricoh announced three waterproof 16MP adventure cameras, the WG-4, WG-4 GPS and the WG-20. Both Canon's D30 and Ricoh's range are waterproof (Ricoh 14m, Canon 25m), shock resistant and freeze resistant. Check out the news pages for the Canon D30 here and Ricoh's range here. Also check the website in the future for a potential head to head! Finally, after a cloak-and-daggers affair at CES, Panasonic has announced it's 4K-shooting camera to be named the Lumix DMC-GH4. The successor to the GH3, it has the same resolution, but boasts a brand new sensor and quad-core image processor. The big news about this camera is its video ability. A 4K-shooting ability is described as ultra high definition and the results are phenomenal, which should prove very useful for photojournalists. We take a first, excited look here. |
