In this week's news Nikon have announced that the Nikon 1 V3 will debut in April. It is the fastest compact system camera yet built. See more details here.

In other Nikon news the company won a substantial settlement from Sigma over patent infringement, which centred around six Sigma lenses. See full summary of the judgement including settlement fee.

Sony has also announced the finalists in the Open category of the World Photography Awards. You can see some the chosen images and a list of all the finalists on our news article. Sony has also announced the winner of the National Award, where Sean Batten, a software developer from London has beaten nearly 6,000 entries with his image of Canary Wharf tube station.
