Wow, what an amazing couple of weeks for new cameras! Sony has led the charge with two ground-breaking cameras that are sure to attract tremendous interest. The Alpha 7 and Alpha 7R are the world's first and smallest full frame compact system cameras. But despite featuring the largest sensors ever put into a CSC, the cameras themselves are remarkably small. There's a choice between a 36MP version (the 7R) and a 24MP version (the 7) with a hybrid AF sensor for super-fast focusing. The cameras look awesome and you can read all about them here. Nikon has updated its D5200 with a new model. Yes, you guessed it, the D5300 as it's called, brings built-in wi-fi and GPS functionality to the lowest price point yet on a DSLR, at £729.99 for the body. Fujifilm's retro-styled XE-1 has been hugely popular but its Achilles heel has always been its action stopping ability. Well that has now been fixed in the XE-2, which adds the hybrid AF sensor from the X100s and an improved electronic viewfinder to make it a lot easier to photograph moving subjects. Meanwhile Panasonic has been busy shrinking all the components in its CSC cameras and come up with its smallest system camera yet. The Lumix GM1 really has to be seen to believed - despite featuring a four-thirds sensor its smaller than some compacts, yet still features the same interchangeable lens mount and an impressive spec.
