Tuesday 29 October 2013

This week has seen some ups and downs in the photography world.

There has been anger over newspapers being asked to pay to publish more than one official christening photograph of Prince George.

Meanwhile, a video clip published on YouTube managed to capture the moment a photographer was fortunately rescued by swimmers after getting into trouble when trying to take pictures of Monday's stormy weather.

We also saw an announcement from Olympus, unveiling its new Stylus 1 'premium compact'. See the full story on our website.

This week, we're also asking Pentax fans to tweet #WhyIlovepentax to our Twitter account @ap_magazine to let us know what you love most of all about your Pentax camera.

And, don't forget, there's still chance to enter our Christmas Cover Competition. We want a picture that typifies the Christmas season for the cover of the Christmas edition of AP. If yours is chosen, as well as the thrill of seeing your photo on the cover, you'll also win a monopod and rucksack, plus £200!

Reader Gallery Online Photo Of The Week

AP's art editor chooses his favourite reader image from the past week's uploads to our Reader Gallery.

'My choice this week is mattwebuks' 'Path to the top (part deux)'. The composition is essentially three elements and textures - the rough scrub of the foreground lit by the fading sun, the smoother hills beyond and the smeared clouds produced by the 30-second exposure. Combined with the interlocking angles, the image verges on the abstract. Well done, Matt.'
